METRO CEBU, January 21, 2008 – Microwarehouse
recently took vast strides in opening up fresh markets for Apple’s
new Mac OS X Leopard in the Visayas and Mindanao regions by way
of a multi-city circuit. The Leopard roadshow, having started last
December 2007, is still ongoing and has already covered Metro Cebu,
Bacolod, Iloilo, Davao, and Zamboanga.
At each city on the Leopard VisMin trail, Mac users,
local businessmen and entrepreneurs, and Apple enthusiasts in general
were invited to witness presentations and product demos of the impressive
new Leopard OS. Joey Alvarez, Microwarehouse’s product manager
for Apple, affirms that the roadshow was conceptualized with a twofold
purpose: to convince Mac users in the Visayas and Mindanao using
the Tiger operating system to upgrade to Leopard; and to attract
new users to the just-launched OS and the impressive array of other
Apple products in general.
“Metro Manila isn’t the only local
market for Apple,” he says, “and so we have to try new
and different ways to reach out to our southern audiences and let
them know what’s going on.” Since the VisMin tour started
last December, Alvarez notes that Leopard sales in the south have
set new record highs, proving the effectiveness of the roadshow
idea – the human element versus impersonal print ads or announcements
on the Net.
The Mac OS X v10.5 Leopard is packed with over
300 new features, installs easily, and works with the Apple software
and accessories users already have. Leopard brings a stunning new
look to the desktop, and the Stacks feature provides a great new
way to keep it clean. Users can see their files right in the Finder
and browse through them with Cover Flow. Also, instant viewing of
full-size previews of files can be done without opening an application.
