METRO MANILA, March 27, 2007 – Palm Inc.,
the company that invented and continues to lead the mobile computing
revolution worldwide, today held the Philippine launch of the Treo
750 smartphone, that combines a GSM world phone with wireless email
and Web access, broadband-like speeds, and Windows Mobile® 6.
The event was an invitation-only affair held at
the Embassy Super Club, at the Fort Global City in Taguig. Product
presentations to media and resellers were held from lunchtime onward,
ending with a special bash for end-users in the early evening, with
break-beat entertainment provided by DJ Caliph8. At the event, three
brand-new Treo 750s were given away as prizes in a Flash-powered
memory game competition, played on actual Treo 750s – the
winners became the first owners of the Treo 750 in the country.
Among the Treo 750 smartphone’s distinctive
features is its ability to work with Microsoft Exchange®, meaning
users can enjoy the benefits of push e-mail and other collaborative
features in just a few easy steps. The Treo 750’s Office Mobile
also allows users to view and edit Microsoft Word® and Excel®
files, and view PowerPoint® and PDF files. Additionally it boasts
a larger-than-usual memory — 128 Mb of internal RAM, with
64 Mb of non-volatile storage and mini-SD expansion. Plus, for entertainment,
it comes built in with a crisp 1.3-megapixel camera with Windows
Media Player® capability.
Business professionals will likewise benefit from
the Treo 750’s cutting-edge security features. IT administrators
can set passwords remotely, and wipe the phone clean if it gets
misplaced or stolen. The Treo 750 makes it easy to control who can
access crucial company data and when they can do so — confidential
information is less likelier than ever to fall into the wrong hands.
Since the Treo 750 is GPRS-, EDGE-, and HSDPA-capable,
the smartphone is perfect for those who need to stay connected wherever
they happen to be. It can surf the Net at speeds of up to 1.8 Mbps
— much faster than the typical home Internet connection. Its
Bluetooth® and IR capabilities make sharing documents, pictures,
music, and videos with other devices simple and trouble-free; and
as a quad-band smartphone, it allows users to make calls from practically
anywhere in the world.
Palm’s first Windows Mobile® smartphone
in the Philippines, the Treo 750 continues the company’s tradition
of user-friendly and intuitive interfaces. Critically acclaimed
ergonomics support the phone’s QWERTY keyboard as well as
controls that facilitate one-handed use. The touch-screen interface
also makes browsing the Web, personal information management, and
navigating applications much faster and easier.
No other Windows Mobile® device features Palm’s
enhancements, such as Picture Dial on the Today screen, and the
Ignore feature with SMS messaging. There is also a dedicated messaging
application that organizes SMS/MMS messages like a chat thread,
helping users to keep track of conversations.
